hey all,

i'm making a portfolio with inDesign that has photoshop files as part of larger compositions (because i need the transparent background). When I export to a pdf it works perfectly in acrobat, but Preview doesn't show some of the photshop files. Because this is going to be on the web, I can't control what program it opens with and because it's going to be shown to potential employers I need have each page working perfectly. Any help?

thanks!

With the same compression, bleed and colour settings, try exporting the PDF from InDesign as PDF 1.3 or 1.4 (Acrobat 4 or 5) under the Compatibility tab (top right) of the General section in the PDF export dialogue box. This should cover the large majority of potential apps used to view the document.

Hmm, tried both and it still doesn't work. I also tried saving to a gif file and that doesn't change anything.

Anyone else?

Hi.

Are some of those PhotoShop files .psd format? If so, try replacing them with the same images saved as .tiff and see what happens. My PDF portfolio has PhotoShop images placed into InDesign too, but ther are all .tiff.
