I want to install my newly bought SSD in my 2011 Mac Mini but I can't find the "proprietary SATA hard drive cable", shock-absorbing mounting grommets and mounting screws here in Europe.

I don't want to buy it from iFixit for $145 including shipping and import duties.

Help!

£86? where does that price come from? the 'upper' lead.. which I think is the one you need is £38.

Cable: €55.75 incl. VAT
Screws & grommets: 17.44 incl. VAT
Shipping: 26.19 incl. VAT
-----------------------------------------
€99.38 roughly £86

:)

ah.. you price the items in euros.. so you're not in the UK. I did say in my post 'If you happen to be in the UK'

Anyway.. if you want to do this NOW.. then looking at the lack of responses you have three choices. pay the price.. or use the SSD as an external... or just swap it for the original HDD. which will cost you next to nothing.. all you'll need is a HDD external case.. so you can transfer your data and OS-X.

Me? I'll wait until the end of the year. And see what prices are like then for a 256 or 500gig SSD.

I must say it does strike me as a bit odd to buy an SSD - before you've sourced the cables you need to fit it. That seems just a little back to front.
