Help: Public Beta --> Public Release

Hello,

I have my iOS, tvOS, and macOS devices enrolled with the Public Beta program, and now that 11.3 for iOS and tvOS, and 10.14.4 for macOS has been released, only my macOS device is receiving the Public Release.

For all three of the OS's I had the current Public Beta installed, so my question is why then is my Mac getting the Public Release and not my other devices?

I thought for Public Betas the last update is the Golden Master, which is the exact same as the Public Release, so I wouldn't get the Public Release at all?
 
Look at the build numbers to see if you have the final release. On iOS, the last developer beta was the GM.

Where can I find the build number? I tried looking on here and no one seems to have posted it.

You need to remove the beta profiles, restart your devices, and then check for updates.

Yes it was. I haven't received any updates today and my iPhone X has build 15E5261E which was last weeks 11.3 Developer Beta.

On my iPhone 6s, which is running the latest Public Beta, I have 15E5215a. But the Public Release of iOS for the iPhone 6s is 15E216.

I'm wondering if because Message in iCloud wasn't released for the 11.3 Public Release, but is on the Public Beta of 11.3 has something to do with it. But with that scenario, why would my macOS get the Public Release, as macOS has Messages in iCloud.

You also need to remove the beta profile and restart your phone, then check for updates. The release build is not what you have. The release is 15E216.

Yes, but why did my Mac get the Public Release when I didn't "remove the beta profile" in Mac App Store preferences?

Here how it should work:
  1. Go to https://beta.apple.com, and enroll your Apple ID, so all your devices that are connected with that Apple ID get Public Beta's.
  2. When a Public Beta is released, your device automatically downloads it, for you to manually agree to install (for safety purposes)
  3. If you want to leave the Public Beta just go to https://beta.apple.com, and unenroll your Apple ID so all your devices that are connected with that Apple ID will now only get Public Releases.
This method would solve so many headaches of having to delete profiles and restarting, etc on a per device basis.

You shouldn't be on beta. Beta should be installed by tech savvy users. You don't need to remove any profile or anything. Apple know what they're doing. We should see a new beta next week which really makes it irrelevant to remove the profile unless you want to leave the beta program, which I might suggest.

I don't think you understand the issue.
 
There is no issue at all. The devices get the updates you need to have if you are on public or beta channels. If there is no updates available, everything is fine.

The macOS had changes and they were pushed on the beta channel and public one. That's why you are getting an update there and not elsewhere. Again, their release channels are maintained and you won't miss anything if you stay the way you are right now.


If you want to get rid of the feedback app, you can remove the profile and it will be gone on reboot

Yes, but my Mac on the Public Beta has Messages in iCloud, and the Public Release (which its asking me to update to, does not). So my Mac will not sync with my other iOS devices.

So your saying when enrolled for Public Beta's on macOS, disregard Public Releases?

Either way Apple need to have macOS updates in Settings, not the App Store.

As for the Feedback.app, are you sure? Last year when I unenroll my Mac from Public Beta's and rebooted, the Feedback.app Was still present. Did this change?
 
I was just thinking the next release for the public beta would be 11.4 which has already been announced. They still have to work out whatever issues they are having with messages in the cloud. Maybe they wanted to get 11.3 out there for the power management issue? Who knows.
