Alright, i'm not sure how many other people out there are having the same issue as me but here it is:

the F1-F10 keys really bug me. in System prefs you get the option to either set them all to hardware features.... which is use mainly because i love being able to youe the 3 volume keys..., or the option to use software features which i use because i love expose. So, why is there no way to like "split" the functions.

I'd like to be able to use the volume keys without having to hold down fn, as well as be able to use F9 & F10 for expose, without holding down fn either! Dosent apple realise that these are probably the features that people want to use most. Anyway... if anyone has a suggestion on how to set this up, that would be great.

It just seems funny because the "hardware" function for F9 & F10 are for the keyboard backlight on MBP's, but i have it set to auto, so they dont do anything anyway! So i'd rather have them work for expose....

Any help would be great!
Thanks!

I have a multi-button mouse so what I've done is set up the mouse's extra buttons for expose. The mouse us the logitech MX revolution.

it's a valid concern, and it's probably why the new imac keyboards have dedicated exposé and dashboard keys. i wouldn't be surprised if apple decided to do this in their update to their laptop line.

apple is a lot more likely to make dedicated dashboard and exposé keys than putting in a forward delete key. and put them where, you ask? f11 and f12 aren't doing anything special on my macbook pro.

Those are good keys to have that function, but I got tired of using keys for Exposé long ago. It's just easier to use a corner.

there's nothing wrong with redundancy. i've got exposé/dashboard mapped to keys, mouse buttons and hot corners. it makes for lazy computing. :)

Funny thing is, I get really picky about how I want stuff. EG, I want Dashboard to be a key, not a corner. Conversely, I must have Exposé as a corner and not as a key. Your way allows for extreme laziness, my way allows for confusion:p
