iPod Help re IPOD

I have owned an Ipod for almost two years and I still cannot figure out how to use it.

Yes, this this true. And I have a college degree and work in the technology domain.

I don't know why, but I invariably find the instructions people (or websites) offer to be ambiguous and / too complex.

Before I give the thing away, I will make one last try.

Can someone please tell me how to get songs from Itunes onto the Ipod? Also, it appears that while I have renamed the Ipod itself, my "Finder" application thinks it is named "JINKELOID".
