hello im new on this forum and trying to see where would be a good place to purchase refurbished imacs.. i read on other threads that refurbs are the way to go these days bc the fact im on a tight budget.. im looking for a 24" imac, would i have to go through apple?

thanks i just purchased my first imac, the 27" 3.05ghz for $1357 shipped! i thought it was a slick deal so i hopped on it... or did i pay too much? also, do the refurbs on apple.com come with apple care or some type of warentee?

Apple refurbs come with a standard Apple 1-year warranty and are eligible for Applecare extended warranty. I think that is a great deal! I think you are referring to the 3.06 intel core 2 duo model. I bought that very same model 6 months ago and paid at least $200 more (refurb also). Machine has been great, no yellow tint and gorgeous screen!

I purchased 2 i7 refurbs both with screen problems so be careful, they (apple) were very good about replacing them but I am surprised they got through their refurb program. The first due to yellow tint probably not that bad but bothersome, and the second due to screen flickering even after the update. I ended up purchasing a new quad i5 try to keep price below $2000 instead they were nice enough to give me 5% off and free expedited shipping but just thought you should know. I will probably not buy refurb again. Like my dad said there is a reason they were returned.
