Hi need some help. Just got a new MacBook Pro. Did migration assistant from my other computer and realized it was a bad idea since I copied all sorts of junk over. I have decided to go back to square one with a fresh install.

so far I have gone to disk utility and erases my drives.

I now am going to reinstall Catalina. However it’s asking which disk to choose. Macintosh or Macintosh - data.

which do I choose?

I chose the one that says -data. Is that a problem?

thanks!!

Neither. Erase your hard drive again so you have just one volume named Macintosh. Install to that. The installer will create the correct volume for data.

ok I cancelled and removed the -data drive in disk utility leaving me with just Macintosh. I am reinstalling to they drive and there was only that one option. Thank you for the quick response
