I've been trying for days to remote install OS X 10.5 to my MacBook Air and I keep getting "Install Failed - Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer - The Installer could not validate the contents of the 'BaseSystem' package".

Why? Im using a MacBook PRO as the DVD/CD Host. Time Capsule Wi-Fi set to WPA (no WEP). And using install disks sent with my MacBook Air.

All 3 devices are within 3 feet from each other. Disk Utilities say the disk is good. Partition Map sequence is GUID Partition Table.

Im faithfully following the steps in "Reinstalling software using Remote Install Mac OS X - HT2129".

What am I doing wrong?

Resolved...

Thanks guys for trying so hard to answer this one... right

Anyways, I got bitten by something so simple. Clean your disks regardless if its the first time you take them out of the plastic sleeves.

That was it.

Thanks JoKrone!

immense satisfaction comes from solving one's own problems I find.
(weren't ignoring you, just didn't notice the post)
so now you'll have no issues when you come to upgrade to 10.6 - which I highly recommend for the Air; it'll run heaps quicker on SL

There was definitely no collusion to not reply to the thread nor not help the OP in any way. Sometimes people just don't know the answer, and other times we just miss the thread as it drops beyond the day's most recently read threads.

OP, please forgive our ignorance or mistake in missing the thread.
