Help requested: Javascript and rollovers

Hi all,

Something is exasperating me. I made the following site:

http://dps.plants.ox.ac.uk/external/langdalelab/systematics_temp/

Note that it has rollovers for the menu tabs at the top of the page, linking to some pages within the site. They work fine on that server (dps.plants.ox.ac.uk). I then handed the site over to the guy who will be administrating it, and he uploaded it here:

http://herbaria.plants.ox.ac.uk/systematics_temp/

However, the rollovers no longer work. If I access the very same files that are on the webserver, and open them directly in the browser, everything works fine (i.e file://W:\documents etc...) . But it never works when accessed through the internet. Does this mean there is something disabled on the server (herbaria.plants.ox.ac.uk)? I freely admit I don't know anything about configuration of webservers - but it's the only explanation I can think of, as if the Javascript just isn't being sent.

Any help greatly appreciated.
 
I don't see the images at all on the second site, even before I try to roll over them.

Your first site has images at locations like this (point at them to see the whole URL in your status bar):

On the second site, the menu images are missing. The systematics_temp and menu_bar and home.data_ folders appear to exist, but it seems that the files like img_01-over.gif are not in it. Perhaps they simply weren't uploaded?
 
Thanks guys. I'll have another play tomorrow when I'm at work. But I am 99.9% sure those folders and their files are there, because the files work when accessed locally, and I copied over whole folders, not files. Must have missed something I guess... :confused:

Doc Q, how do you know these folders exist? Can you see the directory structure?
 
For those interested:

The problem was file names or folders with "." in them. I created the site on a Mac, which doesn't have issues with that. Or maybe it is to do with the server settings/software, since one server allowed it and the other didn't.

I take no further responsibility for its appearance - it's in the owner's hands now! This is a proud moment for me as it is the first time I have actually made any money from doing something creative with computers...
