help required trying to delete photos off SD card

right my android friends any help here would be much appreciated

My girlfriend has an S8 after moving from a S5 and she has photos on her SD card from her old phone but when she tries to delete the photos on her S8 they keep coming back. How can she remove the photos for good?

she is going to attempt to put the SD card in her old phone and see if they delete then. Would this work at all?

Should be able to insert the SD Card into any computer or phone and reformat the whole card.

Do you have your photo library set up to sync over the cloud? Maybe that's why they keep coming back.

Sounds like a phone sync service is running and dutifully returning a fresh copy of the deleted pics.

But as mentioned, reformatting the card will erase the data.

There might be a sync going on when the card is inserted back into her phone.

But reformatting it will erase all data on the card.

Double click on the My Computer icon. Your SD card should be displayed in the 'Devices with Removable Storage' section. Right-click on your SD card to bring up the right-click menu options. Select Format.

1. Connect the SD card to your computer by using an external card reader. ...
2. Open Disk Utility. ...
3. Find the SD card in the left side of the window. ...
4. Click the ERASE tab in the middle of the window.
5. Next, click on the Format dropdown menu.

Yes...it will erase all data on the card. Just don't put it back into her phone afterwards

I am not sure. I know a reformat will erase all data on the card. I am not sure about any sync process or app that is running on the phone. I can't answer that part cause I don't know how the phone was setup.

They're not being restored from the cloud by any chance?
I had a similar thing for years, didn't bother me, but the same photos kept coming back until I figured out it was from the cloud.

If you still can't delete the pictures from the SD card on a PC then it's possible it's gone bad and put itself in read-only mode. Either RMA it if the content isn't sensitive or destroy it if it is. I've had it happen a few times with Sandisk but none so far with Samsung.
