She bought a iPhone from someone that was apparently jailbroke and she didn't know it but when she started having problems she tried restoring thru iTunes. The phone is an older iPhone 3G.

Now the iPhone will not update and fails after it gets almost done thru iTunes. I guess because something has updated and cannot be downgraded. The error code was 1015.

So what should we do?

The phone is locked at the screen with the iTunes logo and the USB cord.

Ideas for someone that is computer friendly but hasn't messed with jailbroken devices but on several occasions.

If the iphone was previously jailbroken then cydia will or atleast should have the shsh blobs to whatever firnwares the device has had whilst jailbroken.

Use the latest version of redsnow and fetch the shsh blobs for the device - redsnow will also restore - or you can use snowbreeze to cook yourself a custom firmware using your fetched blobs.

Got RedSnow installed however it won't allow me to go into DFU mode. I've done this before but this phone won't let me. It's stuck in Recovery Mode.

When I did try and Jailbreak the phone it says there is a USB connection error.
