can't understand it...it dropped like 13% in like 2 hours overnight and a further 8% from 2.30 to 5.15. and on the battery it says Android OS was using 15% of the battery...any way I can fix this? as before this may phone was only draining 5-7% in like a 8 hour period. any fix here?

Factory reset time? Backup via Kies and restore your device.

Alternatively - Make sure nothing has become activated ( motion gestures - or previously disabled app ) since the update....

But yeah - needle and haystack spring to mind :(

Yep, you'll just have to re-download your apps via PlayStore, and it may wipe your photos / music if they are on the main device and not MicroSD.

If they are on the microSD - take it out before doing so and you'll save your pics & music :)..,

If next time you get updates on an app, if you take notice of which app\apps they are, it could give you a clue that something amiss is going wrong with that app if your battery starts playing up. :)

wasn't an app though was just a software one but not sure how to check.

Honestly just reboot, charge fully, and see if it happens again. If it does go into your settings and look at the battery usage stats. Don't do a full factory reset just yet.

Think I may of found the issue.

Bought this charger dock/hdmi connector and when I had it on there not on charge my battery went from 97 percent to 85 percent from 22.30 to 2.00..then when I took it off the dock from 2.00 to 5.15 it only dropped 4 percent.. Seems odd if this wasn't the cause

Thats the thing there was no cable in it to charge or in the HDMI slot it so not sure why it should matter but it does seem odd that the battery drain stopped being so bad after I took it out..

A dodgy charger makes sense. Charger outputs from things other than Samsung's mains block don't seem to be enough to charge the S4 properly. I had mine plugged into my MBP for four hours yesterday and it only charged by 25%.
