But is it something special in any way?Could you give me an example?Where can I get one of those?

1. any place they sell glasses
2. ask anybody with a pair of glasses on their nose (they usually have plenty)

if you strike out on both, buy some cleaning product off the apple store.... they come with special cloths

My week-old c2 matte screen mbp had a little dirt stain so I tried to clean it.I don't have much experienced with lcd monitors and so I used a bit of saliva :)o ) on the tip of my finger and tried to clean it but well, it left a fingerprint on the screen!

And now it's driving me nuts!!1What can I do to clean the screen??

look for a microfiber cloth. yup, the same things used for glasses. or if you have an oakley glass pouch, that's the same thing :)

iKlear

I use the disposable iKlear wipes on my 17" matte screen, read & follow the directions! My screen looks perfect.

Microfiber cloth and a dab of water. My 7 month old screen is perfect and I've never used anything else. The MacBook manual doesn't lie :)

Beware of Kleenex which WILL scratch over time, if not the first few times. My friend's MacBook is a testament to this.

I just use paper towels and a tiny bid of water, takes the dust off and even cleans fingerprints but u need to scrub lightly over them.

Are the microfiber clothes good for the glossy screens on the MacBook?

In my experience it will smear the grease all over the screen rather than cleaning it. I guess the expensive iKlear is really the way to go with glossys.

This is the typical thread about screen cleaning with the typical papertowel user. A papertowel will cause scratches on your screen, so only use these if you really don't care about your laptop's screen condition...

i use a microfiber cloth on my glossy MBP and it works fine. you need to dampen part of the cloth slightly, wipe the monitor, and then use the dry part to clean up the water that might still be there.

Never ever use paper materials unless they are specifically designed to clean lenses, whether it be camera, glass, or computer (usually CRT).

I have a few moistened wipes that are meant for cameras and computer crts that i dont even use on my matte LCD.

I use my Oakley bag with some water. thats pretty much it. Make sure your microfiber cloth has no particles in it. I always shake mine a few times before using it.

Ok how bout kleenex then? I dunno, I have no scratches on my screen (its matte) and trust me I am VERY picky about these things, if there were any I would notice.

Seeing as kleenex is also paper tissue it's a nono if you really are picky. Use a microfibre cloth, it's like 3 $ in any store ^_^.

Of course, I don't know many people who use microfiber for their daily-use glasses. Most of us just use a shirt.

Btw, that will also result in very very small scratches in the glasses. You really need to use a wet cloth and make sure there is no particles. Yes I am anal about it.

I used to be anal about this with my new glasses, then all of a sudden there was this big scratch on one of the glasses which I didn't know where originated from. Now I just use my t-shirt since scratches on glasses are inevitable ^_^

Ok I'll buy that the screen will get small scratches but glasses??? :D I've had the same pair for 3 years, cleaned probly 400 times total on my shirt and they dont seem to have scratches.

Doesnt a microfiber cloth get all dirty after a few uses though?

Just cleaned my screen a yesterday and i used/use iKlear. I find it works best. although cleaning method is somewhat different with Glossy screens. first you clean with a dry soft cloth (glasses cleaner), then polish then wipe again and then buff. Kinda like shining a shoe. Works like a charm.

Well, the big problem is drying off your glasses with your t-shirt if there's something like a grain of sand on the glasses or the shirt. Very little particles will always scratch the glass a little bit. Of course scratches on glasses are usually unnoticeable because they will always be out of focus, so that might just be why. Anyways, it's just good measure to make sure your glasses are wet before you wipe.

And you can just wash your microfibre cloth.

This'll probably get me killed, but on the 3-year-old (matte) screen of my iBook, I had keyboard scuffs that were driving me crazy. Nothing got them off. Finally I decided to chance it, and very gently used a new Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, since I figured it was time to clean the palm rests anyway. And amazingly, it did a great job of cleaning the scuffs off the screen without any other problems.

Last resort and be careful. But I was very prepared for it to fog up the screen... it doesn't seem to be an issue at least with the matte material the iBook used.

this might sound like overkill, but i use some water to dampen one microfiber cloth. because the water is a bit hard and leaves streaks that are noticeable when off, i have a second dry microfiber cloth to quickly buff/dry the area. I clean 1/4 of the screen at a time. From my car experience, i usually just wipe from a top to bottom motion. Never a circular motion.
