Hello fellows,

I hope this is the right place to post this. I have a Hard Drive sitting on my desk at college that I would like to make available to my family at home. But for the life of me, I cannot find the best solution to make this happen. Ideally, I would like to plug the HD into my computer at night and leave it on so that my family at home can have access to it. I am behind a router, so are they. My computer is a mac, and they have a mac and PC available at home to use. What would be a good way to go about setting this up ?

Thanks,

Probably a FTP server using an alternative port (one that's not blocked by school).

thanks for that, ive gone and set up a SFTP server on my mac, but now my biggest problem is sharing just one specific folder, how can i create a user that only has access to one folder on my drive?

Set up a new account without admin privileges and only give sftp access to that account. Then set permissions on your personal account to disallow read access to anyone but yourself (turn off access for Everyone, but allow Group access). Make the shared folder readable by everyone.
