I currently have 3 mac mini's on a network and 3 family mac books. One mac is a desktop; one runs as a server that is on all the time and runs plex, and one runs parallels and I use it as a windows 7 machine. The 3 mac books get plugged in every once in a while to get backed up. I also have QNAP NAS I am transferring files to which holds the plex library.

Right now I back up everything to two TC's everynight.

I finally bought CCC and a WD 8TB easy share drive. I'd like to make full backup's using CCC, but I am getting bogged down on how to do this over the network.

Should I mount the 8TB ext drive to the QNAP and have CCC backup to images on the drive?

or should I mount/create 6 disk drives on the ext. drive and have CCC make 6 bootable backups?

Could I convert one of CCC images files on the NAS to bootable version on a USB drive later on?

CCC seems very easy to use, I am just getting confused on the best way to do this and have it run automatically.

I would probably backup to images on the drive. You can restore those images to a physical USB drive later if needed using Disk Utility or CCC itself (assuming you have a working Mac at the point you need to do that).
