Help - Space bar & backspace not working

Friend has a MB Pro. All keys work except the space bar and the backspace. They were not working, then worked, now don't. Have downloaded all obvious OS X updates for Tiger and also firmware updates. Checked keyboard settings in system preferences.

Ran keyboard viewer and all keys flash when pressed except... you guessed it.

Warranty runs out next month so I reckon get down the store soon but any ideas??? Thanks for any help.

As you said, get to the store or call Apple well before the warranty runs out.

i know. its just that either i can't fix it or its a product fault. a £1500 mb pro with a space bar that does not work is not why i brought my new imac. i'd rather its my own dumbness than a prodcut fault. thanks for the feedback
