Love my iPhone, love my new Macbook Air.

First time I sync'ed the two my 600 contacts made it from the computer to the phone.

Now I'm syncing again a few days later and music syncs, video syncs, but if I choose to sync contacts or calendar it never ends. I've left it for as much as 30 minutes and nada.

No progress is shown as it is with music, etc -- just a barber-pole like progress bar that never changes.

I've tried checking the sync box that says "for this sync only replace the content on the phone" and it doesn't make a difference.

I've tried powering the phone down and back up and nothing.

I rather not completely reset the phone because I suspect that this will wipe the call logs, voicemails, SMS conversations, etc.

If it helps, I think the problem started because during this 2nd sync it detected a bunch of "conflicts" in the address book and asked which version I wanted to keep. I went through and chose all the ones to keep but before that sync was done the sync got hung up because an SMS message came in which it was in progress and when I tried to slide the slider to get to the SMS I killed the sync (I didn't realize the slider killed syncs at that point).

Any ideas?

I have the same problem. It's just the iCal sync for me. AddressBook synch seems OK. But I;m not getting my updated calendar on my phone.

I'm doing a complete fresh install of my MBP from scratch today anyway because I'm tired of the instability. 10.5.2 took me from bad to worse. I have a business trip coming up and I don't want to have to take my Windows laptop.

Maybe the iPhone sync will be better after that.

May have a solution -- it cleared-up my problems.

1) Close all open applications
2) Open iSync.
3) Go to Preferences and Reset Sync History.
4) Quit iSync.
5) Open iSync again -- this time you'll notice a message on the window about reconnecting to AddressBook and Calendar.
6) When iSync finishes (the message goes away), quit iSync.

Now, try your sync again. You can use either the circular arrows on the menu bar (that will sync AddressBook and iCal without loading iTunes), or you can bring up iTunes and sync there.

The process actaully updates files in your ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices folder. Try it and see if it helps.

Oy, here we go again.

My iPhone won't ever stop syncing. It gets stuck syncing the contacts.

I tried the steps posted just 2 messages above -- the steps that worked liek a charm before, but they don't work this time.

When I clear out the iSync history the message about reaquiring info on contacts and address books never goes away.

Any ideas out there?

Update: Problem solved. There was a message about Address Bok conflicts that was buried on the desktop. Why it didn't come to the foreground is beyond me but once I noticed it, problem solved.

conflicts hanging sync

I had the same problem, iTunes seemed to hang on calenders or contacts if I disabled calender syncing. I discovered that a window had popped up BEHIND iTunes warning of more than whatever% change to my iPhone data. It was waiting for a response that I was unaware it needed. This used to pop up in front of iTunes, something I think they missed in the latest update.

My syncing is now as quick as it always was.

Thanks, same hidden window

I had a hidden window saying I had more than 5% change in contacts, so thank you very much
