HELP! thinkin of buyin a MINI!!!

i dont really know anything about the mini. i was thinking of buying one and hooking it up to the HD tv in my room. Will it be good enough to surf the net and do w/e? does it have wifi? and hdmi so dont need a VGA or anything else?

im really tempted.
 
It's same as MacBook but in different form factor. Yes, it's more than capable of running a web browser and if your TV has an HDMI port, you can use it.
 
well im thinking of buying an older one, the new one is a lil too expensive for me right now. I would get it but at the same time not sure if i would like it hooked up to my TV.

is the last generation just as good? wifi and HDMI hookup? what about wireless keyboard and mouse? like i said im gonna hook this up to a main tv in my room to just browse the net and listen to music sometimes.

The last gen will do what you want just as well, however, it does not have a native HDMI output, so you would have to buy an adapter for it, and a separate audio cable. It has wifi also

What do you mean it doesn't have a native HDMI output?
And why is adaptor needed?
 
The older mini does not have an hdmi port like the new one. The adapter would be a different style cable for you to hook it up to you big screen tv.

The late 2009 mini (2.26 & 2.53GHz) models did not have HDMI like a Blu Ray player; they have Mini DisplayPort and mini-DVI. The 2010 models now have HDMI. I have a HDMI adapter, but those ports on the 2009 mini do not carry audio, but there are special adapters that incorporate USB for audio thru HDMI to a TV.

If you know the 2010-it's perfect for HDTV reading. I use mine on a 60" HDTV direct from HDMI cable. I must say when I use Keyboard control + mouse zoom I can bring text up to one word for the entire 60" width and the pixels do not break down. So based on my experiences with it (I use it all day long every day reading text) it works fine for reading.:D

Oh ok. I thought this was said for the new model. Now i get it thanks ;)

I stand corrected. :) Mine is a 37" 720p set. Beyond about 30 minutes of surfing I'm ready to switch to my laptop.

I just test my mini on a 50 Sony rear projection tv. I played with the display settings to be able to read stuff from the next. There is a slider on the side to down scan. Works great to keep it on 720p and slide it about half way. Not sure if you tried it but works great.
 
Your TV's owner's manual should tell you if it can be used as a computer monitor and what resolution it would give you. The TV may be your biggest limitation.

The 2010 mini has built-in wireless networking, Bluetooth and power supply -- nice.
