Hello everyone this my first post. My ipod classic was based/synced on a Macbook, however my macbook's hardrive has crashed recently and i have been using my cousins windows PC :(. I recently got a iphone.
Can any one tell me how to transfer my mac based ipods songs/photos to the windows computer. Every time i hook up the ipod it tells me to format the ipod if i want to use it in windows. I am afraid it will delete all the songs, photo if i format it & wont be able to transfer songs to my iphone.
Any one know how to get this thing work out ??

I'd suggest you fix your MacBook. Look on the internet for a 2.5" drive, get the right screw drivers, and the MacBook should be fixed within ten minutes (with an additional hour reinstalling MacOS X and getting all the software updates). Guides for installing a hard drive are on this site.

And yes, connecting the iPod to a Windows PC _will_ erase everything. You _must_ connect it to a Mac.

I can only assume you didn't have your MacBook's hard drive backed up?

With the cheap price of externals and the ease of Time Machine there is truly no good reason that any Mac user should not have a backup of their system.

Thanks guys for the information. I will definitely follow the instructions & fix my mac. Will keep you posted on how things are going..
Thnks
