I turned something on my Mac that seems to be like a built in VPN but I have no idea how to shut it off or what it is called. Can anyone help? DO you know this feature?

You might be talking about iCloud Private Relay. If so, that can be turned off in System Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Private Relay.

Private Relay routes Safari traffic through Apple's servers to hide your IP address from websites you visit.
