I set up my iPad to sync this morning before heading into work and I didn't realize iTunes had some error and when I got home my iPad hadn't synced (due to the error, something with mobileme) and the iPad screen never turned off all day!

I tried to turn off the screen during syncing and the button on the iPad wouldn't respond. Is there a manual override or setting for this? I hate that the screen stayed on all day long.

All iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad screens remain powered on during the sync operations. No override exists, as far as I know. There is no harm in the display being on. The pixels will not burn or stick.

try double clicking the power button. this shuts my display off while syncing.
