I just used blackra1n to jailbreak my iphone 3gs and am not trying to restore it. I go to itunes to do the restore and it starts downloading the required files. It times out every time and I have to re-download. I can never get through with the download hence no restore. What can I do?

If you're not trying to restore it, why do you go to itunes to do the restore? If you're trying to un-jailbreak, why do you not want to restore?

So many questions.

DFU-mode answers them all.

If you are having problems download then simply download the firmware here

Then in iTunes hold alt (on mac) and click restore, select the firmware you just downloaded. You will still need an Internet connection to restore, but it won't download anything
