I am very sorry if this has been covered before, but I have been looking everywhere online for a solution to my problem for the past four hours and have not gotten anywhere.

I recently bought an iphone from someone on ebay, and it turns out he updated it to 2.0.2. I remember seeing my friend using ZiPhone to unlock, activate, and jailbreak his iphone, so I decided to download that and use it. Unfortunately, everytime it goes, it gets stuck at "Entering Recovery Mode", and the iphone just goes into recovery mode, making me restore it everytime. The same thing happens with iliberty+. From what little I've read, it looks like these programs still cannot unlock, activate, and jailbreak iphones above 2.0.1. At this point Im pissed. I havent been able to use the iphone for ANYTHING!

Something to note: The iphone came with an AT&T simcard, and when I put it in, it doesnt have signal but I have no problem browsing online or using the phone's applications. The second I put in my t-mobile card though, it says it needs to be activated and I can only make emergency phone calls.

Can ANYONE help me? My email is abetanc@gmail.com. I would appreciate any help at all

pwnage is pretty easy to use. Not sure if it works with the 2.0.2 version yet or not but it is worth a try and it is real simple. There is a good video on Cnet explaining it her HERE. You can also go CHECK THIS THREAD to get more discussion on it.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Just want to say that pwnage tool with bootloaders worked PERFECTLY to unlock, jailbreak, and activate my iPhone 2G 8GB (2.0.2). THANK YOU!

What exactly did you do?

Im on the same boat I purhcase an iphone ebay 2.0.2 and i want to unlock it and jailbreak but most important unlock it. Can you help me here my email is el_accordion@hotmail.com

1. What exact program and version did you use

2. Where can i get it

Thank you

your the first that i see that unlocks it been having trouble finding on other sites.

IF you read the first post at the top of the forum called Pwnage FAQ then you can unlock your iPhone.

I really wish people would read before posting questions already answered more times than I can remmeber!

Maybe if people made it more clear that the program can not only jailbreak but unlock and activate phones (specifically 2.0.2), maybe I wouldn't have posted

I'm also in exactly the same position as the op, and though the FAQs are very comprehensive, they mention nothing about 2.0.2, and I don't want to mess my phone up as I'm sure you can understand. This thread helped me clarify I wouldn't, so cheers for the answers :)

Did you use Pwnage tool version 2.0.2?

I've tried to create my custom ipsw but when selecting the official 2.0.2 from Apple, the Pwnage tool is telling me that it's an invalid firmware bundle...

BTW this is under Mac OS X Leopard on my MBP.

Thanks,
-Marc
