So I updated to the latest Rock app earlier today on my JB 3.1.2 3GS, and after rebooting it is just stuck at the boot logo. I've let it sit for 15+ minutes with no change. I've also tried putting it into DFU & Recovery mode, but it won't go. The screen goes black momentarily and then back to the boot logo. Itunes doesn't recognize that there is an iPhone even plugged in.

I'm running the latest Itunes on a Snow Leopard Macbook if that helps at all. I'm desperate to get my phone back up and running asap, as I rely on being called to get jobs for work, so any help that can be offered is greatly appreciated.

I just had the same issue. My phone would go to the apple boot screen and then turn off. I had to go into recovery mode and restore through itunes. Just when your phone is off hold the home button and then plug the cable in. Keep holding home until the itunes thing shows up. Rock app, i hate you.

I finally managed to get it into restore mode, but was never able to use one of my cracked firmware files. Eventually I had to restore with a factory 3.1.2, but was able to use Blackra1n to jailbreak. Thanks guys for the help.

Jeez! What the heck is going on with these updates? First MobileSubstrate, now Rock - it's getting to the point where you don't even want to update any of your jb apps anymore. I know that jailbreaking comes with certain risks but these problems seem a bit excessive.

I think that's the nature of the beast. I mean, this whole endeavor is happening under an architecture that's not meant to permit what's being done, and with the relatively small community, it's pretty hard to beta test all the apps.

I mean, even Apple releases junk every now and then (Hello SL deleting data).

It happens.

I always wait to update to see if there are any problems with an update. Better safe than sorry.

I agree, Winterboard ended with me having to get a new phone.
Would not restore even with unaltered 3.1.2
Now there is not much scarier than updating something in Cydia and watching that Apple logo with dread.
