I'm just trying to update my iphone using quickpwn and because I updated it yesterday (I'm several versions behind!) quickpwn told me to close that down after making the .ipsw file, put the phone in recovery mode (which I did) when connecting to USB and itunes starts up - now I have a (very happy looking) steve Jobs cartoon figure on the iphone but that's it!!

Itunes is not 'seeing' the mobile but only to 'itunes must check the iphone software update server to identify this device'

if I press cancel then nothing happens - I'm too scared :rolleyes:to click yes but I've seen from other forums that it doesn't work either.

quickpwn said that I would be able to click update and click on the .ipsw file that's on my desktop and that would be it!

the cartoon is lovely and all but how can I get this fixed?????

hmmm.. half way writing this and the iphone icons have come up and I got the above message again... just got over my fear and clicked yes - it then said there is a new update do I want to download and install... I said no as it's not letting me point to the .ipsw file on my desktop.

any suggestions?

I guess now I need to know how to use the quickpwn .ipsw file thats on my desktop if clicking recovery in itunes wont let me (that's how I did it before - it asked me if I'd used quickpwn before and had a pineapple at the start up screen which I didn't at the time... but now I do so now what?)

Thanks for any help you can offer - and sorry for wafflying :)

well, it's ok now... totally forgot how to manually choose the quickpwn created .ipsw file - press alt when clicking restore!

phew... sorted now.
