Help Please ☹️. My MacBook Pro won’t turn on- showing a white screen with a no entry sign. Any ideas?

I have MacBook Pro and MacBook doing this, but without the no entry sign.

Do you get chime on boot?

No entry sign means it can't find an OS. Judging by the picture I imagine you have a 13" 2012 MBP (or a slightly earlier year)? If so, likely the HDD or the HDD cable has failed (or both).

Best to take it to an Apple Store, they should be able to sort out the HDD cable for you. While you're there, it would be worth upgrading the HDD to an SSD to improve performance & longevity.

They won't put in an SSD.

@ OP a hard drive cable swap is easy and cheap to DIY if you're not under warranty.

USB - SATA adaptors are cheap too; I use them to quickly attach a hard drive to to see if I can boot from it, then install a new hard drive cable.
