so i dropped my iphone in water.i need a back up phone. I took out my sim card but will the texts, contact, ect transfer???????

If you've been syncing it regularly with iTunes, though, it should have been making regular backups to your computer (unless you disabled this function), so your data shouldn't be lost.

+1

text messages are stored in your backup

You can use MobileMe or Gmail to backup your contacts ( I use Gmail now)

Little late for the OP to do that now, if he already hasn't. BTW, Funambol is an app that you save your contacts and that doesn't cost anything.

Contacts, notes, SMS , pics in the camera roll, game saves, app settings, and most everything else (except pics synced from the computer, music, ringtones, and movies) are stored in the backup.
