Help: wireless network visible to only 2/3 laptops!

OK, so, we finally got our broadband connected and I spent a couple of hours going through the learning process of configuring the router ( A d-link G604T Wireless it, setting the wireless and sorting my Powerbook, no problem.

I was then able to hook my girlfriend's Windows XP laptop up easily (automatically picked up the network and just entered the key) and that was also no problem.

I go to hook up my flatmate's windowslaptop, also running XP, and it will hook up via an ethernet cable, but will not see the wireless network. The laptop was working at my flatmate's office wireless network on friday, so I think the card is working fine and the diag says it'sworking fine. Not being a windows user generally, I'm now a little stuck!!

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!!

Most businesses have set settings for their internet/router connection settings. Their router may be like 177.234.121.1 or something like that, where ase yours may be 192.168.x.1 You need to change the network settings.

EDIT: You may need to change domain, workgroup, static ip, etc.

I had a router problem similar to this and was trying all sorts of different things to fix it. What finally worked was finding the setting to make my router mixed B/G Wireless instead of just G. Of course its the most simple thing that works most of the time

Yeah I think this could have something to do with it. The driver software is a bit older than the other laptop too...

I've sort of got round it by installing the wireless adapter fob and software that came with it, but it's not ideal. Connection speed just as impressive through this though (compared to good 'ol dial-up!).

Thanks Pepe, Have double checked on this and were set to mixed! I'm pretty sure it is just some damn tick box or something!!
