Help with 4k display and Mac Pro

I have a Early 2009 Mac Pro with GeForce GTX 680 video card.
Just bought a UN48JS9000 Samsung 4k TV and can't get it to work at 60hz.

Tried connecting it by itself, with another HDMI display and nothing helps.

Any ideas? Should I install nvidia drivers? I'm out of ideas on what needs to be done

Yes thats my thread. That was more of choosing what to get. This is more of a direct problem that I'm facing now.
 
You have nothing to lose by downloading the Nvidia web drivers & trying them out.
 
No experience on this. However, since the Connection Type shows DVI or HDMI. I doubt if the OS really allow you to display 4K 60Hz with this adaptor but without SwitchResX.
 
I ordered another adapter just incase. Should I try SwitchResX?
 
Just swapped out my gtxt680 for non flashed gtx 670. Same issue, Didn't fix it.

Update - installed fresh copy of 10.11.5 no 60p, tried SwitchResX also didn't have that option in there. Looks like I'll be returning the TV and getting something else. Might even be looking at getting rid of mac pro as its getting up there in age (early 2009)

Yeah I can't get my 2009 MacPro or my late 2014 MacBook Pro Retina to see my LG 42UH750V at 60hz no matter what I try and likewise the MBP doesn't even seem to show right ration (things are a little stretched vertically on screen) and yet I know the TV supports 1:1 pixel mapping and chroma 4:4:4

Yep I have no idea why. TV supports it, my friend is running it perfectly fine on skull canyon nuc at full 60hz. At this point I'm going to return my samsung and see what else i can get. I might even do what he did and go with skull canyon nuc and replace my mac pro. Its already getting there in age and nothing new from Apple is looking good to me

As we know that the GTX680 delivers 4K@60Hz via DP 1.2 then the problem must be the adapter not working correctly (perhaps with that specific monitor).

something wasn't working. I tried 2 adapters and 2 video cards. Friend of mine tried it with his nuc and it worked perfectly over hdmi 2.0 port without adapters running windows 10.
 
May be you should ask your friend to test the adaptor via DP1.2. He has a working computer that can output 4K, a working HDMI 2.0 input 4K monitor, and I am sure his display card has DP as well.

NUC doesn't have full display port connector. only mini and we don't have mini adapters.
