Hi guys, I'm quite new here. I'm totally new to iOS, I was a Android fan-boy and still am, until my dad decided he wants to encourage me to code etc for iOS as he loves it. I will try to be as clear as possible, please if you need more info or if I posted in the wrong section I am truly sorry, and I'll suffer the consciousnesses ( I hate noobs over on XDA too, but now I am one :p ) .

I got my dad's old iPhone 4 GSM A1332 it was running iOS 5.1 (not 5.1.1). I was to lazy to update, so I decided I'll see how it goes on 5.1, and so ended up jailbreaking 5.1. I downloaded Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 for Windows ( Running Win 7, but have access to a mac ) . I got my iPhone ready ( DFU etc. ) Pressed the jailbreak button ( Untethered ) and presto, I saw a lot of text looking like DOS, then I saw a pineapple with a loading bar and text saying "Moving Apps". After that my iPhone rebooted and Redsn0w said "Done!" . My iPhone kept hanging at the Apple logo.

After reading some guides etc. I got it to turn off with ( Home and Power ). I got it into restore mode and hooked it up to iTunes. I clicked restore ( and update as 6.1.3 came out ) It downloaded and when it got to verify, it said ERROR 3194. Which I found out was when it can't communicate to the Apple server for signing. I edited my host files etc, with no luck.

I then got TinyUmbrella, and started the TTS server, when I then click Restore on iTunes, I get passed the verification, but then get error 11. Guides say that this is because I don't have my SHSH files ( I am not sure about my facts here ). But what I don't understand is that I am upgrading to the newest so Apple should sign it, right?

Also I have tried DFU and PWNED DFU mode. I have tried pointing Redsn0w to the IPSW file and using the "Just boot" and "Jailbreak" options. Both still didn't fix the hang at the logo. I also tried doing the Jailbreak then pushing it out of recovery. I also tried updating with our mac, and doing the TinyUmbrella and hosts thing trough the terminal there too. Still hanged at the Shiny Apple logo.

I have a 5.1 and a 6.1.3 IPSW . Is there anyway I can get my iPhone working without using iTunes to restore ( Unless you know how I can fix the errors ) and without having ANY SHSH Blobs ( Didn't know of these at the time I jailbreaked, my noob mistake, I know.

Thanks for your time in reading this!

Regards,
PulseDroid.

You don't need blobs to be on the most recent firmware that Apple is signing, which is 6.1.3 right now.

Put into DFU mode and click restore. Google if you don't know what DFU mode is.

If that error persists, it's with your "hosts" file. Google "3194 error hosts"

Not meaning to be rude, and I appreciate your reply, but did you even read trough the post? I DID Restore via iTunes with my phone in DFU and I DID edit my host file many times. If you could maybe upload / pastebin a host file that would work ( Maybe I did something wrong ) I would be much appreciative.

Change your hosts file so it doesn't direct to cydia's server and then just put the phone into DFU mode and click restore on iTunes. It'll restore to 6.1.3 and you can use redsn0w to tether jailbreak 6.1.3
