Help with apps not quitting

So i keep having these issues:

A app like Adobe DNG converter or Aperture will become un-responsive,

so i force quit from the force quit screen or dock

The app remains in the dock so i will try to force quit from the dock

the app remains in the dock so i try to restart the dock

the apps are still there in the dock

I try to kill via terminal or the Activity monitor but the process isnt there

when i attempt to re-start the application via my applications folder i get a -600 error from finder.

i have both repaired my permissions and my disk

it is becoming impossible to work and i am now under a strict deadline

I had the same exact problem..The only thing I can suggest is archiving and re-installing Leopard or Tiger (whichever you have)
