I set up an OS X server 10.6 on a Mac Mini at work. We only utilize iCal and the Address Book portion of the server. Currently every is setup correctly (so I know did something right) with iCal and Address Book and everyone is in sync. I have a 2010 MBP and the iCal will connect just fine, but I could never get the Address Book to connect.

I get "Address Book couldn't discover the account settings. Make sure the user name and password are correct and click Create."

I know all information is right because it's the same for every because we all share the same Calendar and Contacts. But for the life of me, my machine won't connect. Could it be blocked from within the server somewhere?

I can get my iPhone to connect and get my work contacts, but never my own computer. The strangest part is every one else connects just fine. I have searched and nothing has been remotely helpful. I have restarted the server and looked through all the settings, but I just don't know what else to do.

Any suggestions?

Nothing? I figured of all the of all the places on the Internet, someone here would know it.

If no one has an answer any other places I might go to get one? This is reallly frustrating I can't access the server I setup only on my own personal machine, which is a 2010 Mbp. Everything connects just fine?

Does my computer get blocked if I enter a passwrong too many times or something? I checked the logs and it still didn't give me anything to go on.

Just an idea,
in Server Admin, <yourserver>, Access
Select the "Address Book" service
Is the user there?

Had this problem before, but you said you went through all the settings already.
So just an idea.

That shouldn't be the issue. I can get the same user account to work on every iPhone and computer except my own (edit: even my own iPhone works, just not my computer). This is so my work can share a single calendar and address book so we all use the same login information.

Sorry to the OP on timing, but there was a tutorial written up on how to setup a CardDAV and CalDAV server on Mac OSX 10.6 (Client) using the open source code of the server counterpart. At the end of the section of setting up a CardDAV server it discusses setting up Address Book, and it may help those in a similar situation.

The tutorial is found at: http://www.ronregev.com/misc/pim_server_tutorial/

The project can be found at: http://trac.calendarserver.org/
