Just got a new iMac and want to connect it to an older iMac running High Sierra. I have them connected with the Thunderbolt cable and adapter, but I can’t get the display screen to show what’s on the new computer. When I press command and F2, nothing happens. Any advice?

Do you have the correct Thunderbolt adapter and cable?

Did you press Command-F2 on the keyboard connected to the old iMac?

The old iMac needs to be fully booted up (or at least showing the login screen) when you do this.

What model year is your old iMac (to make sure it does have Thunderbolt and support Target Disk Mode)?

Thank you. I was hitting command and F2 on the host computer - not the destination. This did the trick. Appreciate it.
