Are there any guidelines to follow when adding a contact to your iphone so Navigon can parse it and navigate to it. I find that a lot of my contacts do not get used correctly when i input an address via contacts, but when i do it manually it works fine?

What country are you in?

All of my contacts work fine when I use Navigon. I use the standard

name
company (if applicable)
### streetname
cityname, state abbreviation, zip code (7 or 7+4)

Give us an example of an entry that hasn't worked.

I'm in the U.S:

1306 E 123rd Ter
Apt. B
Olathe KS 66061

gives me

olathe KS 66061 when i plug it in before I hit start nav

4458 W 150th Terrace
Leawood, KS 66224

gives me

Leawood KS 66211

Okay, I'm going to add that to my contacts and see what my Navigon does.

BRB

Okay, it's not the way you're entering them, it's something else, because I'm getting the same result. I can find it if I enter the address manually, but not if I choose it from contacts. I tried entering it all different ways into my contacts, including from the Maps app, and with different abbreviations. No go.

Very weird, and I suggest you submit a bug report to Navigon.

Yea, I sent them a message about it. This happens sometimes when i save contacts from a Google maps search as well.

I found a work-around that seems to work because I've had the same issues.

Go and edit your contact's address in Contacts App:

On "Street Line 1" just put the Address Number.
On "Street Line 2" put the road name, and at the end make sure the street type is abbreviated. (E.g. "St" for "Street," "Rd" for "Road," "Ave" for Avenue.")
Then just enter your city, state, & zip.

Now try and let me know if that works. It worked for me on two of my addresses that were completely screwing up.

Also, let us know what Navigon says in their reply email, maybe they have even better advice/guidance.

Interesting. That seems to have worked, at least for the one I tried.

I'm not willing to change all 700+ of my contacts, though. :( And I can't figure out what makes some go wacky while others are just fine.

I also submitted a report to Navigon, with that, and an iPod issue I found. I'll report back with any response.

I know it's very frustrating, happens to me as well. It has something to do with the direction in the street line, like W Park st., or E Main st. I believe Navigon is aware of the problem.

From what I have seen it is the West, South, East stuff as well which causes the issue. I pull that out and it is fine. Problem is here in Chicago those are crucial in finding a location.

Same situation here in Columbus, OH. And if I delete that from the address, Navigon then asks me once the search results come up, whether I want N or S. So I'm just supposed to memorize that for all my contacts? very frustrating.

Here is what they replied with, kind of bogus:

This problem you are having with regard to navigating from your contacts sounds as if there was a problem during the installation.

Please deinstall it & download the latest version from itunes & install that.

Re obtaining GPS functionality please follow the following steps :

During the following process the memory of your iPhone will be reorganized. This will have a positive effect on the quality of the GPS-Signal. The internal memory will be entirely deleted during this process. Therefore it is extremely necessary to make a backup of the software as described in step 1.

Please connect your iPhone to iTunes and perform synchronize it. After that please click with the right mouse button on the iPhone-Icon (in the left menu of iTunes) and choose “backup”. iTunes will now create an entire backup of your iPhone data and settings.
Then disconnect your iPhone from the computer and connect it to the power supply.
On your iPhone choose “Settings” -> “General” -> “Reset”.
Then choose “Erase all Content and Settings” and confirm this.
The following steps can take up to two hours and more, depending on the model and storage capacity of your iPhone
After the procedure is finished please connect the iPhone to your computer again.
Now using the backup install your data and settings.

Definitely a generic, BS response. I picked up on the issue with W, E, etc. in the directions on a trip last weekend. Seems like a pretty basic thing to get wrong. I notice that you can't even put the direction letter in when just entering a street address either. If I need 123 N Main St I have to put in Main St (if I try N Main St it won't acknowledge the street exists), then when I type the number "123" then I see it listed below as 123 N Main St. It seems the app wants you to give the number and street name and let it determine if it's North, South, East, West, etc. What sadist designed this input method?
