I'd like to change the bullet size for the Mac shortcut option-8. How do I identify the font and size that option-8 produces? I'd like to know this so that if I change it and if I don't like the results, I can go back to the original option-8 result. I tried highlighting the bullet and increasing its font size manually, but that alters the line spacing, which I don't want to do. With the Font Book app I can see all kinds of bullet symbols in fonts available on my iMac. But I see no way to identify or change the option-8 result. So how do I do that? Thanks.

I'm guessing you already know you can configure custom bullets within certain apps, but since you want to change the option-8 bullet globally, you might be able to do this using the free, open-source Karabiner Elements:

Yeah, you can't change the formatting of the • character globally, but Karabiner would let you specify a different character which may appear larger in context. In my experience, though, many alternate characters and symbols can alter line spacing in a lot of apps.
