I need help to setup my friend's 24" 2.16 imac to her new cintiq 20wsx. The problem we're having is that the maximum resolution we can get on the cintiq is only 1280x1024, yet the manual says it should be 1680x1050. The result is that the image on the cintiq is all stretched and fuzzy.

I installed it and tried using my white macbook and the cintiq worked natively at 1680x1050, so no problems there.

So where's the problem and what am I missing?

It may be stuck in VGA mode. Make sure the selector switch on the back of the Cintiq is set to DVI. I had a problem with my 20WSX not being recognized as a digital (DVI) monitor by my MacPro even with the switch set to DVI.

The solution that worked for me was to connect the included DVI-I to DVI-D adapter to the Cintiq monitor cable. This forces the computer to recognize the monitor as DVI and sets the default resolution 1680 x 1050.

Now it works

We had to shuffle the VGA/DVI switch from DVI to VGA and then back to DVI and then get the imac to detect the displays again. Why I don't know but it works.
