greetings everyone, this just started happening today. I’m not certain if it’s something I did by mistake or a certain setting was triggered when my cat walked across my iPad.

Earlier today I could go to google.com and my onscreen kb would pop up just fine like normal. But now it won’t come up when I visit the site, and neither will any of the inputs impress on the google.com site itself. I can see my inputs highlight words etc, like when I click settings on the bottom right, and the search bar lights up when I tap there to try to search for something, but then nothing.

the keyboard will not pop up, if I press gmail, nothing happens. But, if I go anywhere else, like yahoo.com, then the onscreen keyboard works as normal, same as with any other website, the iPad just works as usual.

the only place where absolutely nothing is recognized is on google.com. I am using the default SafarI browser. I have a 7th generation iPad running the latest software update, 14.3

Yes! My husband started having this same exact problem this morning and now my iPad is also having this issue.
Must be something to do with Google on Safari, because I can access Google just fine with the Google Chrome app.

Thank you for the reply?, I’m glad it’s not my iPad then. I had a sneaking suspicion that it may have been google themselves hav updated something or other. Whew!

Your’s is the first post I’ve found about this online. Wondering how many others are experiencing it.
Switching my default browser to Chrome til it’s fixed...

That’s weird. Both Safari and Google Chrome on iOS use the same rendering engine.

That’s right @AutomaticApple .

AFAIK — ALL the iOS browsers — including Chrome for iOS, Firefox for iOS, Brave for iOS, etc — use Apple’s WebKit engine (Safari’s underlying web browser engine).

This is an App Store rule.

And looking at Apple’s current App Store Review Guidelines, this hasn’t changed —>
see § 2.5.6 of App Store Review Guidelines:

2.5.6 Apps that browse the web must use the appropriate WebKit framework and WebKit Javascript.

I guess this means the OP’s google.com KB issue isn’t a WebKit issue then. Since google.com works fine in Chrome for iOS
