I bought an Iphone 3G 16Gb from ebay that wasn't unlocked or jailbroken at the time. Setup the IEMI and 3G plan with ATT and inserted my ATT sim and itunes gave the message about the sim not being supported. Then I used QuickPwn to jailbreak the phone and it was successful in jailbreaking it, but when put the sim card in, no had no signal. So I went to the ATT store to see if they could help and they got the same result using different ATT sim cards. So I called apple and I gave them the serial number. They said it was a t-mobile phone. Now since this iphone has 2.2.1 software and 6.02 bootloader is my phone now locked to tmobile until an unlock method is released?

Get a Gevey SIM in that case, and then your AT&T should work fine. Sounds like you got an overseas T-Mobile model. Since the SIM Cards identify themselves only as "T-Mobile" you can always go the T-Mobile US route for this phone, but you still must jailbreak to get past "Slide for Emergency"
