I need some help with iPhoto. I keep all my photos in a separate folders on my computer outside of the iPhoto library. When I first got my Macbook I imported all of those folders into iPhoto as separate rolls. Nowadays, I often delete photos from those original folders but the photos do not get deleted when I look back into iPhoto. Is there anyway to sync the folders I keep my photos in with iPhoto so that when I delete a photo from iPhoto it will also get deleted in those original folders that I use, or vice-versa? Sorry of this is confusing but any help would be great. Thanks.

No, I don't believe that is possible.

When you import into iPhoto, the original does not get moved. It just gets duplicated and copied into iPhotos own file structure. So anything you do to your image in iPhoto will have no affect on the original you used to import, nor will messing with that affect the copy in iPhoto.

They may be of the same thing, but the two photos are actually two independent files, unfortunaley.

You can tell iPhoto not to copy photos to its own library, in which case moving and deleting photos from your HD should also remove them from iPhoto.

does the method that gloss mentioned definitely work?

and is there a way to make Front Row show each roll rather than showing the entire library?

Go into the iPhoto preferences and tell iPhoto to not copy photos to it's library.

My suggestion is to just use iPhoto as you means for organizing photos. I think of iPhoto just like iTunes. You wouldn't go and try to play or delete one song through the iTunes folder in finder, you would (I hope) open iTunes to play that song or delete it. Think of iPhoto as the same. Just open up iPhoto, find the photo and do whatever you need to that photo. I find photos faster in iPhoto than I do through the finder. Once you get used to the way iPhoto stores photos, it is very easy to use and to find a particular photo.
