the menu works fine..

p.s sometimes in the screen is a icon of a file with a !

if you've got the folder with the "!" then you probably need to take it to an apple store. the disk is probably messed up and they can attempt to reformat it with their computers or they might sell you a replacement. make sure to tell them if you have applecare.

good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Download the latest iPod Updater and restore your iPod...

If that doesn't work, go on a different computer and restore it.

Worked every time my iPod used to screw up... Thats why I'm using an iPod shuffle now...

Well.. no not really :)

should i ask them? is it probably the disk damaged?

If you've tried the software options that Apple suggests in the link I sent you in post #2 and it didn't work, you have 2 options.

Option 1: Take it to an Apple store or retailer and have them try and fix it.

Option 2: If you have Applecare and don't want to void your warranty, don't do option 2. But otherwise, you may try and open the iPod up and reseat the cable to the HD. I've dropped my iPod before and had the same HD issue, and it turned out to simply require me to unplug and re-plug the cable to the HD. Again, I believe this voids your warranty, so you've been warned. It's easy to do, and I don't think you'll damage anything, and for me it was worth the risk vs. paying Apple to fix it. YMMV.

Cheers.

I fixed a few ipods by simply taking them apart and reseating the connections. Use a guitar pick, and be careful, but it's not too hard.
