Hello All,

I need help!!!! I wanted to restore and wipe my MAc Mini. I looked online and found instructions to go to disk utility and wipe erase the drive. I did this and now when I start my computer all it shows me is a grey folder with a question mark. PLease help me restore my Mac Mini!!!! Please.

What you did is wipe the drive without reinstalling an operating system. It needs an operating system, OS X, to do anything.

Hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys before the chime. It should boot into recovery mode.

At some point, it will ask you for your wifi information and password (if you have one). Alternatively, you will need to be connected to the internet through a cable to your router/modem.

Go through the steps to Install OS X.

It doesn't even chime. It just goes right to the question mark folder

Regardless, you should be able to get into recovery mode by holding down Command+R.

Make it chime by doing a PRAM reset - startup while holding Option-Command-P and R.
Keep holding the 4 keys. You should hear the boot chime in a few seconds. If you hear NOTHING at all, keep holding the same 4 keys for about a minute, then release the keys. If you start hearing the boot chime, hold the keys until you hear it chime twice, then release the keys. Because you have no boot system, you can expect to see the flashing (?)

You can boot to the Internet Recovery, which connects to Apple's servers. You should be able to install Mavericks (most 2012 minis will offer Mavericks on internet recovery)
Get there by restarting while holding Option-Command-R. After a short wait, you should see a spinning world icon, telling you that your mini is connecting to Apple's remote servers.
