Having a problem with Mail.app -

Question: Inside an established Mail.app account, how does one remove an outgoing mail server after it has been added?

For example, I have a POP email account set up with a single outgoing mail server (for work). Then, I take my laptop home, and can no longer use that same outgoing mail server. So, I make like Apple says and add another outgoing mail server (which corresponds to my home DSL account). Everything works great, I can send mail from both locations using the same email account.

Now the problem. . . My home ISP changes, and so does the outgoing mail server. I can add another mail server, but there is no way to remove the old/non-functional outgoing mail server!

It it possible to remove outgoing mail server options? Am I missing something simple? Am I being stupid? Any help would be appreciated.

Delete an unused SMTP server.

I am assuming you are using 10.2.8.

If this is the case, to delete an outgoing SMTP server you must run a script in the terminal. This script is located in:

Hard Drive > Library > Scripts > Mail Scripts > "Manage SMTP Servers.scpt"

Open up this file and click "Run."
This will open up a window with a list of SMTP servers on your computer. Choose the one you do not wish to use anymore and click OK.

There you go, no more unused SMTP servers.

You should be able to select in the Preferences panel for Mail Edit Server List from the pull down where the outgoing mail servers are. When the list comes up, select the one you want to delete and select Remove Server.
