maybe this is just the way it is supposed to be.... but my emails dont show up unless i go into the inbox and it updates. i was expecting my emails to pop up while on my home screen and to make a ring/vibrate whenever they are recieved....

i went through my mail settings but i couldnt see anything about it...

whats the deal?

Do you have "push" enabled. The iPhone allow three methods of syncing mail:

"Push", in which mail is pushed automatically from servers that support it (like Exchange).

"Fetch", where mail is fetched at a periodic interval (which you select in the settings screen, e.g., 15 minutes, 30 minutes, etc.).

"Manual", where mail is retrieved only when you go to your inbox.

Even if you have push or fetch enabled, I've noticed that iPhone will sometimes go into a mode where it only updates manually, and sometimes it will go into an endless loop of attempting to retrieve mail (the "last synced" line at the bottom of the inbox screen changes to "connecting" and remains that way indefinitely). When either of these occur you typically need to either turn the phone off and then on again, or go into settings and do a network reset.

nice i hadnt even gone into the "fetch data" section yet.... i turned push on and also set it for 15 minute checks for data

thanks!
