Help with multiple calendars & contacts

With iCloud coming it my problems with multiple sources has got worse. My Calendar and Contacts now have multiple sources but only the details on my Exchange account are up to date.

What I want is all my sources syncing with one-another, for example at a basic level I want my iPhone to sync with my work's Exchange calendar and then update the iPhone / iCloud with this information. But currently it doesn't do this and just creates duplicates.

What's the best solution to this?

Use iCloud control panel to sync iCloud and Outlook Exchange.

Have your phone sync to only one or the other.

Don't make the mobile device the master control agent, use your work/home workstation.

Ah unfortunately my Work Outlook is 2003 - they only support 2007 onwards.

... master control agent...? I saw Tron but can you explain about this further please?

This sounds backwards to me, and contrary to how most systems are designed.

Usually the mobile/portable device is a mere client. Not the one that should be responsible as master source of data, syncing between multiple services.

How are you syncing your work outlook calendar? Through a remotely accessible exchange server? or only when you plugin to sync with iTunes?

If remotely accessible exchange server, via exchange account on iPhone. I would use that as sole calendar for all purposes and disable iCloud and internal Phone calendar. Condense to one source. Simply.

EG i don't sync any corp info to personal device, I isolate the two. For both security and for personal sanity.

For the few things i need to know/remember away from the office, i invite myself and gets added.

I do sync to my personal google apps domain using exchange sync, iCloud and internal data off. Makes it real simple and easy to use on the fly, day to day.

How are you syncing your work outlook calendar? Through a remotely accessible exchange server?

Over the air direct with Exchange. This part is great – if I change/add a contact or calendar entry on either my work laptop or my iPhone it quickly shows up in the other.

However it leaves my home Outlook PC out of the loop. I want these changes to be reflected on my home Outlook.

The issue starts if I use iTunes to sync the now up-to-date iPhone to my home Outlook the trouble starts and all the duplicates are created. And if I delete the wrong one then it has a knock-on effect and deletes it from Exchange and the iPhone


... and while I'm at it ... a separate "birthdays" calendar?! What's wrong with adding the entries into my regular calendar like the other 90% of them are?! How can I merge the two and zap the separate "birthdays" calendar?
