My computer is completely spastic! Every application I have open will quit without my consent. In other words "this program has quit unexpectedly". I need to know why my computer is doing this. Also I have what is called a kernel and for some reason everytime I own a mac i always end up getting these. Sometimes my computer will turn on, other times it will go black with white lettering, or just the mac sign will turn into a circle with a dash and it'll take me a day before I can log on again.

Also I have a Lacie that was working great, and then one day I noticed it was no longer on the desktop. I tried to use sliverlining but that didn't work. So than I deleted the LaCie folder and replugged in the LaCie hoping that I could start over. And I don't remember if the LaCie came with a CD that used.

ARG! Please Help me! I can't be on AIM for more than a minute, along with internet and anything else!

Thank you so much in advance!

Have you put any 3rd party RAM in the machine, any 3rd party haxies on the OS? If you are getting kernel panics on every Mac there is definitely something wrong either with your reseller, or software you are adding to the OS.

MORE INFO PLEASE. :)

What kind of mac, how long have you had it, when did you start noticing the problems, and have you repaired permissions recently?

I have an eMac.
The problems have been happening for maybe 2 months, I feel as though it happens so frequently it could have been doing this even longer. I'm pretty sure that what I have is a kernel panic cause my last computer (the grape colored IMac) had a kernel panic and thats why we bought this eMac. Last program I downloaded was AIM 4.7. ANd I updated my software, to like 10.3.9, I also updated my Security and Java, but I highly doubt the Java worked cause I still don't have access to some things that requite Java settings.
I'm also addicted to downloading pictures. I download so many its ridiculous, and perhaps that could be eating away at my memory, but i thought the LaCie would help.

That actually doesn't make any sense all modern computer OSes have kernels (the kernel is what actually controls the hardware), what you are describing is a kernel panic. We need more info to try and help you discover why you are having the kernel panics.

how much vram is installed if any can be installed. what error message does it give you when it does have a kernal panic

i think when we first bought it they might have installed some extra memory but not since then have I added any extra except for hooking up my computer to a LaCie.

what would classify as a 3rd party app
