Our son has a HomePod mini in his bedroom. We also handed him an old iPhone SE, which was to solely control music (he has his own Apple Music account as part of our family plan). We deleted almost everything off the phone - including the App Store. It’s basically a camera and a music controller.

But the phone won’t connect to the HomePod. Apple Music recognises it, (it shows in Airplay options) but throws up an error when you try to pass music over. I wonder whether it’s because we deleted the Home App? As we’ve deleted the App Store, I can’t see a way to get the Home App back? Or could there be another reason why it won’t connect?

The App Store cannot be deleted, you probably just removed it from the Home Screen. Does it still show up in the App Library?

I don't think you would need the Home app, but it's worth a shot to redownload and see what happens. What is the error you're getting?

I have somehow managed to remove the App Store! It’s not there in the App list.
