I have always had luck reaching out for help on MacRumors, so I am reaching out again to you good folks.

Hello, I have a friend who lives in Cleveland TN (Zip Code 37311), I want to buy them a phone for their birthday, they have straight talk service now. They told me that straight talk uses Verizon towers in that area (Zip Code 37311).

I am looking at a couple of unlocked Samsung S4 or S5 Verizon phones, will these work for them? Or is their another type of phone I should look at. My budget is around $200

Pretty sure BYOP straight talk only uses ATT or T mobile. They do have some CDMA phones that use verizon towers but that's if you buy from them and not BYOP.

They sell SIMs for CDMA and GSM phones, so I don't think it matters. As for a good phone, I'd suggest a Moto G. It's around 200$.

Thanks for the help, I will look at the MOTO G.
