Hello, I was wondering how to plug 2 external monitors to a 2023 MBP 14", M2 Pro.
I'm currently using a single external monitor with the dedicated HDMI port, but what would be the best way to plug in a second one? Is it possible to use a USB-C hub with 2 HDMI ports or do I need to use one port per monitor?
Thank you.

Does your MBP have support for 2 external displays ?

My M1 MBP does not but I ended up trying all types of adapters and finally found one that would work with dual HDMI monitors.

Pluggable 4K display link.

Works perfect.

It does, up to 4 external displays apparently.
Thanks for the link, it's a bit too overkill for my use case I think, is it manageable with what I described in the original post? A USB-C hub that has 2 HDMI ports.

I don't think you'll find a "USB-C" hub with two HDMI since USB-C only has one DisplayPort channel that can be converted to HDMI. Anything you find will be a jury-rig i.e. using a DisplayLink converter (which is what the one recommended in the prior post does - required for M1 but not for Pro/Max chip).

To truly support two displays, it'd need to be Thunderbolt (i.e. "Expensive")

Gotcha, thank you.
So an HDMI to Thunderbolt adapter can work then?

You need to check your monitor for what kind of connections it supports. Most support display port or HDMI.

You can buy usb c to HDMi or DisplayPort for reasonable prices

for example

I am running 3 of the Silkland cables - they work great. MacStudio to 3 HP 2560x1440 @165 Hz. Had them for over a year.

Thank you! An HDMI to Thunderbolt adapter worked flawlessly.
