I need to replace these. Glass damage was such that it severely damaged the mid-board - and it was hard for me to tell how these parts were oriented to each other - earpiece clip, earpiece, and proximity cable.

There was a similar thread in january, and a couple people pointed to the pda glass repair video. This video, as well as most others, does NOT discuss this repair. The parts are readily available - but of course no instructions.

If someone knows of a video, or an exploded parts diagram, I would be so grateful - the latter would at least tell me how to proceed.

Since you are repairing multiple parts, you may have to follow multiple guides. Here is an iFixit page of guides that may be helpful. I am a big fan of the PDAParts videos on YouTube because they discuss how to take apart the iPhone. What they fail to do is to explain the repair, like you mentioned. Hope you make the fix and get everything working!

Thanks David.

Agreed - the ifixit guides are wonderful. They also don't cover these particular repairs - though an additional pict or two encapsulated in either the display/front panel thread would cover this fine. They don't sell these specific parts, and perhaps the rarity of the need is the reason they forgo any info.

Thanks, however.

Sorry for my slow response, I think, at this point, your best bet is to send it into a place like iResQ where they can run their diagnostic test and fix whatever needs to be fixed.

Thanks David.

Im going to risk the eyre of the dubious DIY electronic repair gods, and do this myself. Already ordered the parts from hyratech. In looking at the flex cable, orientation of the earspeaker clip, it seems reasonable there is really only one possible orientation. The lack of solder trace also clears up any confusion on how best to secure the piece.
