I have a 17" Powerbook with OS 10.4.5 and I'm on a wireless network at home. Everything about the internet is fine. Websites load in a good speed, I download things from a website or on p2p, etc. at a good speed as well. However, whenever I'm sending/receiving file transfers from friends on MSN or Yahoo, it's at a snail's pace.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Does this happen when your friends send and receive files between them, or does it only happen with you? Does any of your friends use a Mac? Have you tried iChat to see if it's just as slow? What exactly do you mean by snail's pace?

Some IM file transfers must go through a server, so it could be server related.

Only happens to me. There is one friend who uses a Mac as well and she doesn't seem to be having this problem.

By snail's pace, I mean a 2-3MB jpeg file would normally only take say, 10 seconds or less... But right now, it's taking me up to a minute or more to receive or send a file like that. A song could be sent in less than a minute sometimes, it takes me about 5 minutes. I could go on. It's a weird, annoying situation. :(
